Those balloons, bright colors and smiling faces at the north end of Town Center’s lakeside promenade, belong to It’s Kids Time, a drop-in childcare center.

Multitasking El Dorado Hills mom Jonna Keledjian — wife, mother of three and Oak Meadows PTA president — opened It’s Kids Time on Dec. 28 and offers standard daycare packages and preschool on top of her innovative “reservations optional” drop-in service at the former Hollywood Video location.

“It’s great to know there’s a safe place to drop your children off and not have to call a baby sitter,” said El Dorado Hills mom Mary Beth Beckerley, whose four boys were deeply engaged in a competitive game in the computer cafe. “These guys love coming here. more>>>

Psychic business opens doors in Town Center

By Art Garcia | Telegraph Correspondent | Janaury 19, 2011

Janet Merino would like to relax with a trip to a Disneyland-type getaway or just go to a movie, but she can’t.

A psychic who last week opened shop in Town Center, Merino, 38, says her clairvoyance “doesn’t turn off. I can’t turn off the energy that I pick up from all the people around me.”

That’s distracting, but being clairvoyant is neither a minus nor a curse. “It’s a plus, “ she said. “I love the changes I can help people make in their lives.”

Response to her opening has been “beautiful. It’s wonderful. People come in every day. They’re giving me such a warm welcome. Some say they’ve been waiting for someone like me to come here,” said Merino, who previously lived in El Dorado Hills for 17 years and whose parents still live here.

She returned with her 8-year-old daughter and three sons last August because of “personal changes” involving her and her “soon to be ex-husband” after a four-year stay in Madison, Wis., where she opened The Psychic Gallery. Earlier she operated a psychic shop in Placerville for 17 years.

Merino said she comes from a long line of women clairvoyants, tracing the lineage back to her maternal great-grandmother. Her daughter, who she said “has the ability” to see beyond the range of ordinary perception, might carry the torch to a new generation, but Merino wants her to have what she didn’t — a choice. “I want her to make her own decision,” she said. more >>>

Having been a florist her “whole life,” there isn’t much Melissa Williams doesn’t know about flowers and floral design. She worked with her mother, a florist in Idaho, and later was employed by a corporation in the mass-market end of the business for nearly 15 years. more >>>

New Businesses in El Dorado Hills Town Center Show Shine of The Season

A lot has changed in the last year. Some businesses have moved on, and others have moved in. Even in this lousy economy it just gets better.

On the food front your faves still go strong. Town Center’s gastronomic big guns Bistro 33 and Café Campanile continue to deliver the goods, with Chatara packing them in for delicious Thai food at lunch and dinner, and Mama Ann’s delivering authentic Italian deli fare daily.

Regional favorite La Bou, a salad, soup and sandwich bakery, opened in September between CVS and Nugget. Anyone who has ever experienced the addictive “Spicy Thai Chicken Soup” understands why this is an important development.

La Bou managers Anna and Jennie are on site daily, making sure the muffins are fresh and the soup is hot. They reported last week that El Dorado Hills took its time discovering the new kid in Town Center, but word of mouth and La Bou’s stellar Sacramento reputation have made La Bou a Town Center Marketplace breakfast and lunch destination, providing some healthy competition for neighboring Asian eateries Debbie Wong’s and Asahi Sushi. more >>>

Santa Spreads His Holiday Spirit

The big man lit up El Dorado Hills Saturday night, arriving in Town Center with sirens blaring and lights flashing. Mrs. Claus was a late scratch in the soggy proceedings, but the crimson crusader flew solo and never missed a beat, personally greeting hundreds of kids to the delight of their picture snapping parents.

He warmed the hearts of everyone within Ho Ho Ho range before helping Tony and Louis Mansour light the 32-foot community Christmas tree perched in front of Regal Cinema.

Shortly before Santa’s arrival Rat Pack tributores “The Deanoholics” took the stage — that guy sounded just like Dean Martin — and the rain stopped, as if Tony Mansour had put out an executive order. It stayed dry through the tree lighting. The wet weekend nonetheless kept the crowd down. El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce President Debbie Manning put attendance at “1,200 to 1,500,” about half last year’s turnout. more >>>
